May 2017

The famous Thames Barrier is 33 years old this month.  Opened on 8 May 1984, the company were proud to play a part in some essential dredging works, in particular some emergency operations carried out previously with Van Oord to remove silt from the underwater sill.  In order to ensure the barrier would always be in operation, the maintenance works used the 45 tonne long reach excavator with a dredge pump attachment.  WM Plant Hire has worked on the River Thames for over 20 years now and are currently involved in the construction of the new cofferdam at Chambers Wharf on the massive Thames Tideway project.
