EA contractors have been undertaking repair and reinstatement along a 2.4km stretch of the Wainfleet Relief Channel near Thorpe St Peter, using floating plant. Access constraints meant that all operations needed to be carried out from the water, using two of WM Plant Hire’s CASE CX75 9 tonne long reach excavators working from pontoons with an impressive 9m reach. Machines were used to compact new clay material, place topsoil to strengthen the banks and scour protection using stone and coir rolls.
